Quick Cruise Tip #1 Splash Pad Is Not What It Seems

Hey there family travelers. Quick FYI for today. I have a 3-year-old and an 11-month-old and we took them to the splash pad to play while cruising on Royal Caribbean's Allure.  It was cute and fun and had a couple of different sections to play in and we were all having an enjoyable time until a lifeguard came up and told us that our kids were not allowed in that section of the splash pad because they were in swimmy diapers. We were pointed to this teeny tiny little circle of an area that the kids were permitted to play in and it was so disappointing that we didn't go back for the rest of the cruise because what was the point? I understand the need to be extra careful about disease and bacteria contamination on a cruise ship but this was quite misleading. We recently, as in last week, embarked on 7 night Royal Caribbean cruise with all 11 of our children, our son-in-law, and his sister.  15 of us spread ourselves across 3 cruise cabins and enjoyed what hopefully is the first of many cruise experiences. Throughout the planning stages of this experience, I said to myself often, "Self, there isn't enough information on minimalist travel with a large family and with a special needs child."
